Ingredients:

  • 300ml full cream milk
  • 75ml Amarula
  • 125ml fresh cream
  • 1 x 120g Staffords Instant Dessert Mix: Vanilla Flavoured Crème Brûlée
  • 2 Tbsp sugar

Special equipment:
4 ramekins
Blow torch

Non-alcoholic options:
For a fun twist on this crème brûlée that does not involve alcohol, you can add extracts or flavourings like almond or orange blossom. You can also infuse the milk and cream with spices or your favourite teas.

Method:

Whisk Staffords Instant Dessert Mix sachet, milk and cream in a one litre microwavable bowl.
Whisk until the sachet dissolves completely.
Heat in the microwave for 3-5 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds.

Once mixture is smooth and thick, add the Amarula and stir.

Divide mixture equally between the ramekins.

Cover lightly with cling film and refrigerate overnight.

To serve:
Sprinkle a little sugar onto the top of each crème brûlée.
Using a blow torch, slowly melt and burn the sugar on the top until caramelised.
Allow to cool until firm.

If you do not have a blow torch, simply make a dry caramel in a frying pan on the stove top.
When deeply golden brown pour caramel onto desserts and carefully tilt to spread it out.
Allow to firm up and then serve!
